Why do online games take so long to be great?

I used to play Star Wars Galaxies and it was great at first. But over the last 2 years they have not added anything new. 4 years nearly down the drain

I went to World of Warcraft, and i just got bored trying to make my charector good. 2 years down the drain of doing nothing fun.

Then they came out with Lord of the Rings Online

In one week I had more fun on LOTRO then 4 years of SWG and 2 years of WOW.

Does anyone else play this?

Better quests

Easier leveling

Cool story line

NPC's that go on quests with you (might go orc hunting with Frodo)

After 4 years of some 6 online games ive played in various lengths, They finally come out with the ultimate.

Next i hear Star Trek Online will come out.

I was interested in this except that therre will not be space battles. Kind of takes out the coolness.

Why do online games take so long to be great?
I tryed beta for LOTRO, terriblely made game i ahve to admit, i play Lineage2 and it is a great game(i like alot of pvp) so it suits me well.

Warhammer Online

Gods and Heroes

Are both now in early closed beta

Aion

Age of Conan

Star Trek

and a bunch of other games are near beta status be good, stay away from WOW its junk.
Reply:You got bored because you already know the game thus it will feel like the game has no more surprises. Sooner or later you will also feel bored on LOTR. Maybe a year, 2 years, 3 years... You entusiasm about the game will soon run out....
Reply:I never played WoW, but I did play FFXI which is quite similar in the forever-leveling-takes-forever-to-do-any... and you pay for it monthly line. I do know you have to pay monthly for LOTR as well, which is not something I want to get back into doing - ever. I play Guild Wars and it is quite worth the money! Only 29.99 - 49.99 per campaign (only 3) and no monthly fee! I couldn't be happier.
