Do online games take up internet downloads e.g. COD 4???
Ok what i would like to know is what the question says... cos well our internet is always runing out... and well my dad blames it on us all the time we have 10gb of download usage...
do games like COD 4 Counter strike:source, Half life 2 deathmatch source.
do games you have installed on your computer take up downloads, i know they might take up a bit for connecting to an internet server or something like that but, well my dad rekons internet games that are installed take up 5 to 7 gb a week if you have been playing 2 hours at least each day... SO I WAS LIKE BULLSHITTY...
i would like a proper explained answer with also some links to websites stating that online games that are installed dont take up downloads cos my dad will not believe you...

The online game uses a very small amount of bandwidth on your internet connection. They have to to allow you to play at such fast speeds. Streaming music, movies, and youtube downloads eat a lot of bandwidth. You may also have a machine that is hijacked and being controlled remotely.
Bittorents can be major problem. as well. You can configure them to work a certain way but in many cases they don't really allow you to modify bandwidth even though they say they do.

You can download personal fire wall applications that can help you determine what is going on on your network. I also has process explorers such as sysinternals that can tell you what is running. You can also set up or buy a router that you can create policies to limit bandwidth use from certain computers.
I love to game and sometimes I have 7 people playing online games on my connection at one time with no problem.
Reply:Well you are confused between offline play and online play that means that if you play online you are using the download limit but if you are only playing with computer you are not using any internet
If you play only with computer try disabling the net before playing
