Japanese online games?

There's so many games I want to play in Japanese online and I tried to play some of them one day.

I am Japanese and have no problem understanding the language. But when I downloaded the game...the letters were all screwed up! First thing I did to get help was to contact tech support for the game I was trying to play, but they just said that's not their problem. It's my computer.

My computer is Windows XP and I bought it in Canada. I can read Japanese no problem on web browsers but can't type or read in games.

Anyone has same problem as I have? How can I work this out?

If your XP is English version, its not that easy.

You have to change your system language code from English to Japanese.

see here.

complete til step2. But! be ware. Your XP's language code change to Japanese (even the menu is in English). It means some English software doesn't work some time. And some on-line game doesn't work correctly. (Installing Japanese software is ok. I think.)

and the e-mail received with Outlook Express disappear (I should say hidden behind the system).

If you don't wanna lose email and English software, you can use this.

Reply:It's a common problem.

All you need to do is to follow these instructions...

1. Go to View on the top of screen

2. Choose Encoding

3. Click on Auto select or More

4. Choose Japanese Auto-Select ...

Now it works ...

Happy Game Playing

Reply:You probably have to download a Language package from Microsoft's website. Some versions of Windows already have it so that it can display a language's characters. If it can't, the program tries to look for that language, doesn't, and ends up using a bunch of wierd characters instead. Just try searching for "Windows Language" or search that on the Windows website. And remember, it DOES matter which version you are running.
Reply:Did you go to Control Panel, go to the Date, Time, Language, and regional options area?? You can add Japanese to languages you can type and after you choose, i think there's a separate bar that will pop up after and you should be able to choose to write in Japanese.I never used it for writing Japanese in games but it's worth a shot.
