Me and my cousin love playing virtual life games online, but we can't seems to find any! I have tried Kudoo on Big Fish Games, and that game is awesome (in my opinion) but are they any free games like that? Any help is thankful. =)

I'm new to online gaming but, have always been someone who buys used games. Is there a website or way of knowing what game servers are still running before wasting money buy the game. Going with a game like Madden or NBA Live is easy because the previous years server is shut down shortly after the new release but what about games like SOCOM where each title is not neccessarily a continuation of the previous one.

How can you tell what online game servers are still available when buying used games?

I have played vmk, but it is to childish, I have played club pernguin but it is to dum. And i have tried bang howdy but there is not much to do. And runscape i find weird. Those games can be very problematic. You almost always spending too much time on them. And when you are not playing them they are in your thoughts quite a bit, so yes your personal and secular life could get damaged.

Reply:There are certainly tons of players who are attending school or working a job. As long as you don't overplay, I think taking a break and flexing our game instincts is fun and relaxing.
Reply:if played in moderation they are fine. there are little tips on the start up screen of world of warcraft and a couple of them even advise of moderation in playing the game. it is easy to loose track of time, but any sort of self control will keep you from playing to much. in WoW there are cases that can teach leadership skills, teamwork, and ive even found im better at reading maps now that i have to figure out the lay of the land in WoW. so, once again, the key is moderation. there is a lot to learn if you play them right.

Reply:ok, they are just ok when you play with moderation the thing is they can't be olayed that way. This kind of games are addicting you just can't stop playing until you level more and more. I used to play Wo with my two best friends. It was awesome like going around us three leveling and all then we started to play 9,14,20 hours a day we wouldnt eat we wouldn't go outside, we wouldn't even take a bath. We'd call each other to talk while we played. We all dropped our grades. In skool all we would do is talk about World of Warcraft. We spent all oyr money in the game. $25 the game $35 game card $45 Burning Crusade $40 guides $35 other game card. We reached lvl 70 but then i stoped playing when my it expired. they eventually stoped two. I seriously say that you shouldn't even start. It;s awesome and all but it's super addicting.
Reply:NO! My soon-to-be ex-husb. is addicted to WOW and would even take off work to play for 9hrs straight! He pushed his 1 yr old daughter away when she wanted his attention and just put on headset to talk to the other players in his guild! NOT A GOOD THING!
Reply:They can be. I've played/play quite a few online games. The thing that has to be remembered is moderation. People have to remember that the world is still happening around them while they play, and that the game cannot take up all their time or they'll become obsessive over the game. It's kind of shocking how far people take games. It's why there's bad publicity around for games. Addiction to games is only in ones mind...they have to get over it and go on with their lives. Sure games can be a part of it, but not the whole reason you live. Living to just sit at home and play WoW is a horrible life, and should not be lived by anyone. Play it sure, but take it in moderation (in fact at one of the loading screens in WoW Blizzard TELLS you to do this!). Playing it 24/7 will cause you to lose all in the outside world that may be precious to you.
Reply:Well, my bro-in-law wouldn't get a job until he made it to level 60 on WoW. He made it, and he still wouldn't get a job because he wanted to play all the time. They moved up to MN. He had a job, but then he never wanted to work because he wanted to play that all the time. My sister is pregnant, and he doesn't have a job, yet again. You tell me.

This is an extreme example. If you play in moderation, they are fine. But you must keep in mind you also need physical activity. It is very easy to become addicted to them.

Reply:If your looking for online games, the first thing I recommend is to stay away from mmorpg's (or massively multiplayer online role-playing games) such as World of Warcraft as they are the most highly addicting games that I know of. Virtual worlds might be alright such as Club Penguin (at www.clubpenguin.com). But flash games would probably be the best. Some for that age range can be found at www.kaboose.com. Just go to a search engine and type in something like "free online kids games" and you might find some thing good.

I'm going to tell you about RPGs, since that's what I play. If you want puzzle games or something more traditional like board and card games, try miniclip, addictinggames, yahoo!games or MSN zone. First I'm going to tell you about the browser based MMORPGs, then I'll mention somewhere you can see the downloadable.

To play games in flash, there are Dragon Fable and Adventure Quest (In both you have to pay to have full access to the game, and notice that Dragon Fable is still under construction and that it's hard for non-members to login into AQ). There are also those community based flash games (that some people consider to be MMORPGs) that are becoming really popular: Gaia Online (that I already played and that is really cool), ClubPenguin, PuzzlePirates, and i think that Habbo goes the same way; in all of this games you create an avatar and play games like fishing to get money and personalize those avatars.

There’s also the pure browser based ones: Tibia is a fairly popular game, BiteFight and Knightfight are OK. Travian is a strategy MMOG, also pretty good. There’s also pokemon crater (but it has a lots of publicity) and, my personal favorite, FallenSword (it’s much like pokemoncrater, only that it doesn’t have lots of publicity, and has a guild system that stimulate interaction, not to mention the lottery and the auction system).

Umm, I just saw a question about a guy saying his PS2 online wasn't working...so can you really go online with it? I've never heard of anything like that....what games do that?

For the old PS2 you need the Ethernet adapter and modem.

You can play wireless on the slim PS2.

On the back of the games it tells you if you can play online.

~It says "online Ethernet cable required" on the bottom where it says how many players can play and so on.

I just wanted to know if it was possible to play online with cracked games. please give me a complete answer and no response such as only yes or no (example of games that I want to know about : battlefield, counter strike...)

No. Each of these games needs to send a serial number to the master server.

If this check fails, the server refuses the game to connect.

Cracks can only avoid local checks, like CDs inserted in drive or playing on a LAN with other cracked clients etc. Online servers are out of the control of cracks, and you will be unable to play with cracked games online.

So you really need an original Battlefield or Counterstrike to play online.
Reply:You can, when they are first cracked, but then the company will find a way to stop the use. For instance, some friends gopt cracked copies of Battlefield:MC, and it was playable online for about 3 days. EA, I believe, found out about the crack, and programmed their servers to be able to recognize them.
Reply:I dont think you can, the CD codes are checked online, if it matches someone else whos online, it wont let you play.

I don't know about school, but you can try vSide, IMVU, Second life (that one i don't like it, too complicated and rather boring), Kaneva (that one is so-so), and i forgot the rest. to me vSide is the better one cause you can have your own apartment and stuff.

I want to play online games on a computer w\out an internet connection. how do i do it? I do not want or need the high scores or multi player games to work right. I can transfer files to the computer via flash drive.

Offline online games?
Most game that are online need an internet connection. If you dont have the game hooked up to the internet you wont get online play. Most games have a compaign or story mode. That's all that you would get to play offline. It gets boring after awhile.

Make sure that you run the program after you have downloaded it - this will install the Flash player.

Also make sure you close all web browsers and restart them.

If you have already done this, it may not install because you do not have administrative rights on the computer. Assuming you are running Windows, get the person that owns / set-up the computer to log in and install the Flash software.

When playing online games game freezes?
It could be a number of things, graphic card is not sufficient and or overheating. You do not have enough ram in your computer and it pauses to pull information off your Hard drive instead of storing it temporarily in virtual space, and it could be process not fast enough. Also you could have to many application open at once.

I would simply to find out, shut down everything you do not need running but the game and before that it wouldn't hurt to do a scan disk and defrag.
Reply:when playing any kinds of game you need to have a fast machine, most games have a minimum requirement, but I would go faster than that, if you have a pretty decent machine, I would load maximum memory your machine can take and get a new video card, a 256 meg min, 512 better, if your machine can handle it, because the more times the computer has to store things either in its memory or on the hard drive the more chances your computer is going to lock up,

ive been trying to host online games, and i know the router isnt the problem because i bypassed it. ive opened the ports in the firewall and bypassed security but i still cant host the games. ive been giving people my direct ip address, and they cannot connect to my computer still. can you help?

When you say "hosting online games", I take it you have a server, and we're not talking about peer-to-peer online gaming.

Does your computer have a public IP address, and if so what is it? Make sure you provide your friends with the public IP address for your computer and not the router - unless you setup NAT correctly to point to your PC from the router (or hardware firewall if that's what you are using).

Have you correctly installed IIS? Make sure you have, and patch it to the latest version. Then check the folder and site permissions.
Reply:Since you did not provide details about your location and connection as well asa ISP...it maybe worthwhile for u to know, that in certain countries ISPs block servers...If this is the case, you may have to use a virtual router such as hamachi which will convert your dynamic IP to a static one... I agree that outside is great.. But the computer adds a new demotions into our child's world. Make sure to limit the time they are on.. Can cause bad eye sight if they are on to long.. My niece wears glasses they said it was to much time on the computer.. But anyway.. My child is able to read and she started reading at the age of 2 so this was a great contributor to that..STarfall helps with ABC's Enjoy..

I used to play Star Wars Galaxies and it was great at first. But over the last 2 years they have not added anything new. 4 years nearly down the drain

I went to World of Warcraft, and i just got bored trying to make my charector good. 2 years down the drain of doing nothing fun.

Then they came out with Lord of the Rings Online

In one week I had more fun on LOTRO then 4 years of SWG and 2 years of WOW.

Does anyone else play this?

Reply:I never played WoW, but I did play FFXI which is quite similar in the forever-leveling-takes-forever-to-do-any... and you pay for it monthly line. I do know you have to pay monthly for LOTR as well, which is not something I want to get back into doing - ever. I play Guild Wars and it is quite worth the money! Only 29.99 - 49.99 per campaign (only 3) and no monthly fee! I couldn't be happier.

Live 08 is a fun basketball game but lag might be an issue with some matches, Madden is a nice football game, Halo is pretty much self explainable, NFS ProStreet is a somewhat fun racing game but I love the drag races, and Call of Duty is a good online shooter for ya but a few laggers.

You can also go to the Xbox 360 Marketplace and download Multiplayer games that are coming out and play online against other people. Frontlines: MP-Demo is a good one for that.

You can play competitive solo and team-based multiplayer matches with up to 16 players on 11 different maps. There's a lot of depth to the multiplayer modes, ranging from simple stuff such as deathmatch and team deathmatch (still referred to as slayer and team slayer here), to more objective-based gameplay such as capture the flag. Another similar mode is called territories, in which the two teams fight to defend or attack various control points around the map. You'll also find a mode called infection, where a percentage of the players start as sword-wielding zombies and must convert the members of the other team by killing them, until only one non-zombie remains. Each of the maps can handle any of these game modes.

Like in Halo 2, you can customize these game types, and there's more to customize this time around. You can change things like starting weapons, the weapons that appear on the map, whether the motion sensor is active, the force of gravity, the game speed, whether the players all have active camouflage or not, and much, much more. The multiplayer is as strong as it has ever been thanks to the addition of new weapons and tweaks to old ones. Swords have been made much more interesting this time around: If two players run at one another with energy swords and attack at the same time, the swords clash and the players bounce off one another. This makes all-swords matches totally wild. The gravity hammer is also big fun in multiplayer matches, both because it crushes enemies that are foolish enough to get too close, and because you can smack incoming rockets to bat them away, which makes for an interesting game of baseball.

In addition, you can also play up to 4 player co-op in campeign mode. The weird thing about this last concept is that, with the addition of the Forge, you'll actually be able to build some sort of crude baseball variant if you want. Forge mode is a map editor, but not in the 3D modeling sense that you're used to seeing in PC shooters. You can't edit level geometry with Forge, but you can spawn, remove, and move objects and items around the level. All of the editing is done in real time, and you can pop in and out of edit mode by pushing up on the D pad. You can also play this mode with other players, letting everyone run around in edit mode to spawn Warthogs, rocket launchers, and whatever else is already on the map. On the surface, that doesn't sound so exciting. But in practice, it's a weird and potential-rich addition to the game because there are a ton of little secrets and tricks you can use to manipulate the objects in ways the developers may not have intended.

Call of Duty 4:

Up to 18 players can get online and get into a match on one of 16 different maps. Many of the levels are taken from portions of the single-player and they offer a healthy mix of wide-open, sniper-friendly areas and tight, almost cramped spaces where grenades and shotguns are the order of the day. There are six game modes to choose from. The old standby is team deathmatch, though you can also play in a free-for-all deathmatch, which isn't as much fun as the team modes. The other modes are more objective-oriented, and a couple of those have you lugging bombs across the map to blow up enemy equipment, or preventing the enemy from blowing up your base. Others have you capturing control points. Lastly, you can change up the game rules a bit with a hardcore setting that makes weapons more realistically damaging or an old-school mode that puts weapons on the ground as pickups and generally moves away from the simulation side of things. In addition to just firing your weapon or tossing grenades, you earn some more interesting tactical moves for skilled play. If you can shoot three opponents without dying, you're able to call in a UAV drone, which basically is an upgraded radar that makes enemy positions show up on your onscreen map for 30 seconds at any time. You'll also always have something to work toward, regardless of mode, because in standard, public matches, you earn experience points for just about everything you do. Capturing control points, getting kills, calling in support, all of these things give you points that go toward your rank. Ranking up unlocks most of the game's multiplayer content.

Rock Band:

The guitar game is of good quality, though a couple of things about it might drive a few longtime Guitar Hero fans batty. For one, the difficulty of the game is a good deal less challenging than what the hardcore Guitar Hero fan base is probably accustomed to at this point. The goal with Rock Band seems to be more about bringing in newcomers, so as a result, the difficulty level sits somewhere between Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II overall. Not a bad thing if Guitar Hero III gave you conniption fits, but potentially less exciting for some of the hardcore guitar gamers out there. Also of note is that the note charts for guitar are handled a bit differently, with notes that can be pulled off via hammer-ons and pull-offs appearing as half-sized notes on the chart. It's not quite as easy to see these notes as in, say, Guitar Hero III, so you might end up screwing up a few solos until you get used to this new methodology.

The game's song list goes a long way toward making that multiplayer even more enjoyable. Though the game includes only 45 licensed songs (along with 13 bonus tracks from lesser-known bands), many of these 45 are big-name tracks that are immediately recognizable and span multiple rock genres. Alternative rock fans will find such '90s delights as Weezer's "Say It Ain't So," Smashing Pumpkins' "Cherub Rock," and Nirvana's "In Bloom." Modern rockers will find The Killers' "When You Were Young," Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly," and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps." Classic rock fans will delight in being able to rock their way through Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter," and KISS's "Detroit Rock City." Other, less specifically denominational yet altogether awesome songs include The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop," Rush's "Tom Sawyer," and Metallica's "Enter Sandman."

Burnout Paradise:

Online in Burnout Paradise is quite a different animal than that of previous Burnout games. You don't just hop into a lobby menu and pick races to engage in. Instead, the city itself is the lobby, and while the host decides what he wants to unleash upon you, you can just mess around and do whatever you like.

When hosting, you have the ability to both race and take on challenges. Races are of your own design, with you setting the beginning and ending points anywhere in the city. Challenges are set, and there are literally hundreds of them. The trick is that there are a limited number of challenges depending on how many players are in a group. There are 50 challenges for two players, 50 for eight players, and 50 for each denomination in between. This means that once you've exhausted all the challenges for two players, you'll have to get three, then four, and so on and so on if you want to complete them all. That might prove unwieldy for those who don't have a lot of friends online to play the game, but at least the challenges themselves are creative and fun. The challenges range from competitive bouts of drifting, crashing, and jumping to cooperative versions of all the same stuff. It's an inventive mode to be sure and an exceptionally fun one when you've got a good crew of friends to play with.

Neopets has a good assortment of games and plenty of other activities and is interactive with others. She adopts a computer image pet and has many worlds to explore. She can join without your consent, but will have more options on the site with your consent. They are very safety oriented re: any under the age of 13! (link about this is below).

Gaia Online is more interactive and allows more creativity options and activities. This site stresses independence, individuality and creativity within a social experience. Teens love it. However, your daughter must be 13 before she can join. (So keep it in mind for future membership).

Both of these sites are free and make online safety a priority.

It can be games in the anime genre, but they have to be games that you can customize your character's hair, sex, and clothes.

My friend and I were recently talking and we realized that pretty much every online and MMORPG game has an ultimate flaw.... DEALING WITH OTHER PEOPLE!!! We are both so absolutly sick of dealing with dishonest, rude, annoying people on these games. People who go afk or just plain quit when depending on them. Or the guilds that flounder and fall because of real life issues. Who agrees with me that this will ultimatly cause the end of online gaming? I think in the next few years games will go back to the way they were. 1 person playing by themselves on their own television.

... Also feel free to tell your own stories of how people in MMORPG's or Online games have caused you to hate playing with others.

sometimes i do go afk or complettyly quit when other people ARE depending on me. BUT there is one reason that makes it.......

Are laptops bad for online games?

I have a brand new laptop (a pretty good one at that) and cable internet. I'm using wireless internet to play an online game that worked very well on a desktop computer that isn't half as good as this laptop, yet the game plays very slowly when I join a game with others. Is it just that laptops with wireless internet do not work well with online games, or is there some adjustment I can make to increase the performance?

Never play a game on wireless. It sucks! They are much slower in responding and receiving. Hard wire your laptop to your modem and see it your speed and experience are better. If not, it may be your computer.
Reply:If it over-excedes the requirements for the game and has a good Internet connection and graphics card a laptop is just as good as a desktop.

The problem is that very few laptops have the power to play games like that, even expensive ones. The most you usually see for a processor on a laptop is like 2.2-2.5ghz, which isn't as good as the 3.0-3.4 you see on desktops. and laptops usually only have a 512mb of ram instead of a 1gb.

Wireless does have a bit of a speed issue, but more then that you might have not have an ethernet card in your Laptop. I also hear Wireless disconnects alot.

I would say Runescape. Lots of fun skills, lots of people to chat and hang out with and lots of fun! They have a Free and Membership way to play. Most games with both have a crummy free game and cool members game but not runescape. The free version is fun and ever growing. Might seem dull to start but play for a week and you will really enjoy it!

I am thinking that surely all online games that have a chat room must have some sort of legal obligation to keep records of chats.

After much searching on the internet i can not find a single thing.

Surely with todays society chat logs in chat rooms are a legal requirement and if not what rules govern chat rooms accessible to children and adults.

If you are being harrassed via a game's chatroom but enjoy the game and have spent real money on it do you have any legal rights?

You have no rights. The games are private property. Many are even hosted in other countries with different laws. Basicaly some games keep them but most don't because it costs them money in server space.

Reply:Few web sites keep track of that stuff, games or otherwise, and those that do do it for only a brief period.

Why? They are not selling an Orwellian vision of the world where anyone, private or govt can cause them to incur enormous expenses over frivolous law suits. and they have an obligation to protect the privacy of individuals and to protect the information against hacking. all of this is easily served by not saving stuff.

Or maybe you didn't read what happened when AOL released some web server logs that they thought were anonymous to outside researchers last year?

If you have a claim against a web site, you better act fast and properly so they know to save relevant info.
Reply:I work for an online gaming site and thats what we are there for, to stop any abuse of other players and to ensure that the rules of the site are adhered to at all times. We only keep copies of chat if we believe the rules to be breached and we are banning a player for any reason. Other than that we could not keep copies of everything as we have up to a 100 players on line at any one time.

I have a very painful bladder disorder called IC. During a flare up it causes the bladder walls to swell up like a bad bladder infection. Ulcers can develope causing more pain and bleeding. Kind of like a VERY bad bladder infection that doesn't go away.

I've started using computer games and online games to help manage my pain. I was shocked one night while playing a game from POGO that a lot of the people in the room also had chronic pain. It was neat to know I wasn't alone.

I write articals on the web sometimes for to help earn a little cash. I am planning on writing one about this.

I was wanting to know if any of you who suffer from chronic pain use games like I do to help "take you away" from the pain. Please let me know what problem you have and what kind of computer games you use to help you.

It always helps to take your mind off of your troubles to do something else. I don't play computer games, but what I do to keep myself from thinking of my chronic pain is answer questions here on yahoo answers.

Reply:Often times I get on the computer and e-mail my friends or just get on the computer and dream about different skating things (since I really love figure skating). I don't typically play games unless I play games with my friends online on MSN, but sometimes just searching the web helps when my pain flares up. I also like to bake and cook to try to keep my mind off of my leg pain. I'm 15 and have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in my right leg which causes a lot of pain for me so anything to keep my mind off the pain or help with the pain is always helpful!

These skills play an important role in the game so it would be wise to choose your class carefully.

At level 40, you will be able to advance into your third class and gain new abilities. This is similar to the level 30 class promotion, except your options of classes are severely limited. You can also try the 21st Century Warfare mod for Battlefield 2, it is a tournament mod, so there's always people to play with and new maps and things.
